Strength and Balance Training Programs to Reduce Falls

Why do we offer Physical Therapy at Home?

All home therapy services (outpatient house calls) are provided by our Doctors of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapists thereby providing you with expert care upon every visit.  There are many reasons why you would want to receive our occupational or physical therapy at home services.

For the patient with a fall history:  Our therapists evaluate not only your physical condition, but also your home environment with the intention of reducing your risk for a future fall.  The Synergy home evaluation examines a variety of balance measures.  Based on these scores, we categorize you as a low, medium, or high fall risk.  It is our hope that we can reduce your fall risk to low through a comprehensive program that includes balance and strength training, assistive device recommendations, blood pressure monitoring, review of medication usage, and modifications in the home.  Home modifications are frequently needed to reduce your the risk of falling in your home.  Issues we commonly find are unsecured throw rugs, loose carpeting, narrow walkways, and poor lighting.  These are frequent reasons for slips, trips, and falls.

For the patient with hip, knee, shoulder, or back pain:  By eliminating the hustle and bustle associated with getting to an office-based appointment, you may accordingly decrease your stress and avoid additional pain would follow getting in and out of your car.  We rely on our knowledge of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise to help relieve your pain.  We do not utilize modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation in your home.

For the patient that needs additional privacy:  if you are a high-profile individual that requires 100% confidentiality and discretion, rather than come to our office, we can come to you.  This service is especially beneficial for clients that have Pilates equipment, an exercise gym, or a swimming pool in their home.

How much will it cost?

We accept checks, credit cards, and Venmo as payment for our services.  There are insurances that may cover our services when provided in your home.  Presently, the only two insurance situations we can accept are Auto Insurance coverage (following a motor vehicle accident) and Medicare (not Medicare replacement plans).  In regard to Medicare, please understand that we are rendering outpatient therapy services by making a house call.  This is a Medicare Part B benefit and different from home health services, which are a Medicare Part A benefit.
